Salsa Dancing In Los Angeles

Welcome to LA Salsa & Bachata Dance Academy, the heart of Salsa in Los Angeles. Whether you’re preparing for a special event, dancing with friends, or discovering a new passion, our Salsa classes are designed to inspire confidence, joy, and connection.

ORIGINS OF Salsa

Salsa is one of the world’s most electrifying social dances. It's full of rhythm, energy, and vibrant expression. Known for its upbeat music, fluid movements, and exciting partner work, Salsa is more than just a dance… it’s a celebration of life.

Born in the streets and clubs of Cuba and popularized in Puerto Rico, Salsa evolved as a blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms, Caribbean influences, and jazz. In the 1970s, New York City became the melting pot where Salsa flourished and spread across the world.

Today, it’s danced on every continent, in every major city — uniting people through music and movement.

From Havana to Tokyo, from Bogotá to Paris, Salsa is everywhere. It has become:

  • A symbol of Latin American identity and pride.

  • A universal social dance that brings people together.

  • A performance art featured on stages, films, and competitions.

Wherever you travel, Salsa gives you instant community and connection.

Variations of Salsa

Salsa has grown into many vibrant styles:

  • Cuban Salsa (Casino): Circular, playful, and full of flair.

  • Puerto Rican Salsa: Smooth, elegant, and expressive.

  • Colombian Salsa: Fast-footed with intricate steps.

  • LA Style Salsa: Sharp, flashy, and performed in a linear “on1” timing — the style that dominates Los Angeles clubs today.

  • New York Style Salsa: Sleek and smooth, danced “on2” timing.

At our academy, you’ll learn LA Style Salsa, while also exploring the flavors of other variations to broaden your dance vocabulary.
